Two Moons

Hello Everyone. This is a full cover of a song called Two Moons by a band called toe that I've been working on over the past 3 weeks. I learned every part by ear and improvised my own parts in certain places. I learned the classical guitar part first, then the drums, then bass, then did the synth mastering and finally did the electric guitar part. I used my friend Aaron's Presonus Firestudio for recording the drum and classical guitar parts with a combination of our mic collections. For the synth and glockenspiel parts, I used Propellerhead Reason 4. I recorded the electric guitar direct through a Line6 PODxt interface. All video editing was done in Adobe Premiere. Enjoy!

Long time

Hey there. So it's been a while since I posted anything. Right now, I'm working on a multitude of projects as well as dealing with mandatory 45 hour weeks at work... So time for editing and production has been cut down. I have been working on a bunch of different stuff though, and I do plan on posting a bunch of stuff in the near future. For now, here's a little teaser to whet your appetite... I've been messing around with video editing and production for the first time in my life and I really don't know why I didn't get into this sooner. Here's a clip of fyrii playing a currently untitled song a couple months ago:

If you don't know anything about fyrii, it's an instrumental project that I've been working on for about 2 years now with my good friends Chris and Keith. We have a good group of friends that are also musicians that we jam with regularly, and we could probably form 5 or 6 different bands out of the lot of us. My goal out of all of this is to start my own independent record label starting with music made by yours truly and friends.

I have a full time job and I do this stuff on the side, but honestly that is the way I want to keep it. When a certain field of work becomes your job (your main source of income), it is inherent that you will lose a bit of satisfaction and pleasure out of that line of work. I never want that to happen with my music. I plan to keep c4103 productions as non-profit as possible. Musicians desire to be appreciated for the music they make, and that is exactly what I want to help them accomplish without the label and marketing nonsense. On that note, if you are a musician seeking help with production please drop me an email. My work schedule limits the amount of projects I will be able to take on at any given time but if I dig your tunes and I have the time we can make it happen.

Walk Away

Ok, so I finally got around to this today. This is an original song written by Aaron DesLonde on bass guitar. I tracked drums and acoustic guitar over it. This was the first jam that I've recorded over the internet. Aaron recorded the bass track with his setup, sent me a copy of it, and I tracked over it. Technology!!

Satan's Birthday Bash (NSFW)

This is an original song that I literally just recorded with my good friend Jesse Germain. It's called Satan's Birthday Bash, and it contains explicit lyrics. Don't listen if you're going to be offended.

Hey all,

Had a great weekend just jamming and chillin with the guys. We made a ton of live recordings, but I haven't gotten a chance to edit and cut any of them yet, so stay tuned. In the meantime, here is a video I recorded a couple weeks ago of myself covering a toe song called 向こう岸が視る夢. It's pronounced "mukoogishi ga miru yume" and means "dream of seeing the other side." Check back later this week for more listening fun!

Hey,

Got a few recordings here. They're all works in progress, and I'm open to suggestions as to what I should add next.

These first two recordings are from last weekend. This first one is one of my originals featuring Aaron Deslonde on bass. He was kind enough to bring along his mic collection to fill in the missing pieces of my setup. The first track on this was actually the drums, which is something different. I tracked guitars second and Aaron tracked his bass part last.

mp3

This next one was kind of a spur of the moment kind of thing. I had this drum beat in my head and needed a way to bring it out. I recorded the guitar first, then the drums, then the bass. The song is called raquet.

mp3

This last recording is from today. It's a new fyrii song that Keith has actually had in the works for a while now. This is a live recording done with one take, no editing. The only processing done is a bit of EQ and compression. The guitars are a little quiet, but since it's a live recording and mixed down to stereo before it gets to the computer, the levels can't be adjusted. Oh well.

Well, until next time.

I've experimented with making music videos for a little while now. It's mostly just me covering songs at the moment, but once I get a better grasp on video editing I plan to record multiple tracks with different instruments and switch between the clips. Anyway, this is a recording of me playing the drums along with a band called Maserati. The song is called Monoliths.

5-22-10

Hello friends,

This is a live recording of Ripchord, a fyrii song, with Ben Barr playing drums. On guitars, Chris Zielinski and Keith Wood. On bass, Carey Gumaer.

mp3
This is another live recording. I don't have the sound insulation set up yet, as I'm waiting on another box of foam before I buy the MDF to assemble the panels. I always have a hard time making live recordings with more than a couple people because there's so much going on that it's hard to capture everything equally. I also don't have the new console yet. Regardless, check it out. I hope y'all had a good weekend. Until next time!

Soon, I'll be building hinged sound insulation panels. They're gonna be totally awesome and portable and I can't wait.

April Recordings

Hey everyone,

Here are some recordings from when all the equipment was still setup in my basement last month. Enjoy!

4-18-10

mp3
This song is currently untitled. I used my Taylor Big Baby with one dynamic mic and my Ovation Celebrity direct into the console, recording 2 tracks for each and adding drums at the end.

4-19-10

mp3
This song is currently untitled as well. I used the same instrumentation and recording technique as the 4-18-10 recording. This is the same song as the 5-15-10 recording except it is recorded only with drums and acoustic guitar.

4-30-10

mp3
This is a song I recorded with Jesse Germain. It's a rough recording that we laid down in about an hour in the basement. There are two tracks recorded with a classical guitar, and then the drums on top of it.

Initial Post

Hello Everyone,

This is a blog that I started to post recordings that I make in my home studio. These first two recordings are just me, but I will be posting tracks recorded with other artists as well. I plan to have improvisational jams 3 - 4 times a week and record at least one track during that time period, posting it here afterward. Enjoy.

5-10-10

mp3
This just bass and drums. It's the first recording I made after setting up all the gear in the new music room. Bass was recorded first, then drums.

5-15-10

mp3
This is a room and direct track for both the bass and electric guitar, followed by a drum track. It's the second recording made in the new room.
